PLANNING PROGRESS

So what has been going on lately is just a lot of work on the boats and discussions and planning for the trip. I have finished University and moved back home to my parents house. Hello dial up internet and showers with no water pressure - but the trade off is home cooked meals, and no rent...so far. Today I removed the tarps from Second Wind and was glad to find no mice or mold. Just the musty-boat smell that got aired out with the warm wind. The concerns now are where we will store water, fuel and food. A lot to put on a small boat. I went over some ideas with my dad about where different things can go. In theory we should be able to fit everything in, and hopefully even have enough room for Sal and I. My dad is working on his/my mom's Mystic 30 named Chautauqua. Everything came off the boat when the truck delivered her onto our lawn last fall. My dad has finished putting in all new water and poop tanks with accompanying plumbing and has almost completed the electrical. We started the teak work in the fall, but the winter put that on hold...Once we're sure it's not going to snow again, we'll take the cover off and finish off the woodwork.
Sal has about a month and a half left of his contract with the military and then will be writing police testing and helping me with the boat. Once the water warms up we hope to spend a bit of time on the water, getting used to everything and getting the bugs out. I'll have some pictures for the next post.
